The CIBIO Director represents the Department and is in charge of the implementation of the multi-annual strategic and management plan, both for research and education, approved by the Centre’s Council.
Prof. Alessandro Quattrone is the founding Director of CIBIO since 2007.
Formerly Visiting Professor and Scientist at the University of Florence, Parma and NIH Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (US), Associate Professor at the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute of Johns Hopkins University, and Research Director at the Scientific Hospital (IRCCS) of San Giovanni Rotondo.
He is a Full professor of Cell Biology, Systems Biology, Experimental Biology and Functional Genomics.
His scientific work is centered on the study of post-transcriptional control of gene expression and the structure of translational networks, focusing mostly on neural pathologies such neural tumors and motor neuron diseases.
He is author of more than 100 publications in high ranking journals with around 3000 total citations.
He has been Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Trento from 2013 to 2015.
The Deputy Dean is prof. Guido Grandi, Full professor in Immunology and Vaccinology.
